October 2009 - World Aviation Group celebrates its 20th Anniversary of operations in Malta.


WAG Anniversary Week

World Aviation group has just ended a week long period of festivities as part of its anniversary week celebrating the group’s 20th anniversary in business.

The group welcomed various entities and high profile visitors to their premises during the week, including a visit by the President of the Republic H.E. Dr. George Abela, who was introduced to the activities of the business and provided with an overview of the key role that World Aviation Group plays in the local travel and tourism industry. The President had the occasion to meet most of the 160 staff who are currently employed by the Group. 

The CEO and his team also hosted senior representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, key staff from Malta Enterprise & the top producing agents from the local travel trade. Presentations were held unveiling the Group’s plans and also the origins and evolution of the enterprise. Events were also held internally; presentations were delivered alongside various sports and social activities.  A friendly football match between World Aviation Group and its ICT partners SITA was the highlight of the sporting activities giving members from both organisations the opportunity to come together and express their skills on a more informal occasion.

World Aviation Group, previously known as World Aviation Systems, has been operating in Malta for 20 years and remains a success story for Public-Private partnership in Malta.  It currently runs three lines of business; Centrecom operates a multilingual contact centre operation while BPO Services runs a business process outsourcing operation involving back office activities.  These two lines of business together form a “Complete Service Centre” to clients.  In the BPO Services area much of the activity is currently focused on airline Revenue Accounting. The third line of business is Aviation Online, which continues to handle the traditional line of activities for which the business was originally conceived.  In this line of business the Group currently represents in Malta Etihad, Qantas and Brussels Airlines.  Moreover Aviation Online has a chain of partnerships with overseas operators scattered in around 15 countries worldwide where it performs marketing and sales activities on behalf of Air Malta

“We believe that we have the skills, the capacity and the capabilities to increase our business uptake” commented Dominic Attard the CEO of the Group while talking about these events.  “We also celebrate our anniversary because in this way we create a way of interfacing with the business community and the highest institutions in Malta.  We are also particularly interested to support the community in whatever way we can and the visit of the President gave us the opportunity to offer our services during the staging of the L-Istrina programme”.
