March 2009 - World Aviation Group hosted two secondary students from St. Benedict College

World Aviation Group hosted Kevin Mifsud and Mark Xuereb from St. Benedict College for one week to carry out various administrative tasks during operational hours. This formed part of their Career Studies curriculum.

Kevin and Mark conducted common administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, handling stationary items and distribution of communications mainly within the back-office function as well as the contact centre.

“It is critical that education and industry leaders work closely together to better prepare today’s students for success in school, in their careers and in life”, said Mr. Dominic Attard, CEO of World Aviation Group, “Today’s students are global citizens who require new skills to compete effectively in a global and changing economy”.

St. Benedict College embarks on various initiatives to enhance student talent. A case in point is the setting up of the Chess Academy to provide high quality chess lessons with the aim to promote thinking skills and problem solving through investigative, original and creative skills. “Students need to be given a broad curriculum which caters for their multiple intelligences, equips them with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes as well as promoting lifelong learning so as to be able to go through transitions in life as smoothly as possible. It is in this picture that this career exposure week for our students should be placed,” said Ms. Marilyn Sciortino, Principal of St. Benedict College.

World Aviation Group is strong believer in the joint efforts and collaboration between private companies and educational institutions aiming to assist students in the development of their skills while providing individualized learning experiences.
